Design from your Soul

Have you taken The Passion Test® and uncovered your life's passions?  Great!  Have you created markers or a vision of how your life would be as you live your passions?  Wonderful!  Now is the time to look at your environment, either at home or at work, and ask yourself, "Does my environment represent my current passions?" "Is my home (or workspace) a reflection of who I am and want to be, or is it a representation of the past?"  Now is the time to look at your interior space with a fresh mind.  Discard preconceptions derived from magazines, family, and friends and ask your inner system, or your gut, "What parts of this place keep me stuck in a past that I don't particularly relish, and then, what part inspire me to live my best in life now and in the future?"  "How can I deisgn my home from my soul?"

Clutter

Let's first take a look at the clutter in your home, your office, your life!  Most people like memorabilia, be it photos or knickknacks that remind us of vacations, our childhood, or our family's history.  But take a look around - are you living in a virtual shrine?  Are your photos from ten years ago and are rarely, if ever updated?  Do you still have your kids' school projects and they're in college or have left home?  Do you have magazines from months ago, just knowing you're going to get to them someday?  Are the hobby or craft projects from 1998 still in your closet, waiting for completion?  Now is the time to be brutal with yourself and ask the questions, "Why am I holding onto these things?  Do these objects represent who I am at this moment and who I want to become?"  "Do I love each and every item in my environment?"  Update your photos and have a sacred "burial" of old photos, putting them in a beautiful box with a ribbon tied around it.  (Don't put them in a pile, hoping to put them into an album some day - more clutter!)  Aunt Tillie's chair?  Reupholster it, or paint it to make it your own.  Love your space and love your "stuff".  If you don't absolutely love it, give it away, sell it, or toss it!  Clutter is an energy vampire, stealing good chi from you and your family.

Feng Shui and Your Passions

Have you read the basics in Feng Shui 101?  Print the Bagua map and place it "over" your floor plan of your home, elongating the grid, if necessary.  Figure out what rooms represent career, or abundance, or helpful people, etc.  Then look over your passions.  What do you need more of in your life to help you on the road to pursuing your dreams?  Do you need more support from friends and family? (Helpful People)  Do you need a meaningful relationship with another, either romantically or platonically? (Relationships)  Do you need more clients for a growing business? (Fame, Helpful People, Abundance)  Would you like to begin a family? (New Beginnings)  Are you hoping for a more rewarding career? (Career, Creativity, Self-Growth, New Beinnings, Abundance)  Do you want to travel? (Helpful People/Travel, Abundance)

It may take some quiet time to figure out what you really need to attract your dreams, but if you know your passions and have visualized the outcome, the "how" will come.  Remember the words from The Passion Test page: Intention, Attention, No Tension!

The Elements and the Bagua

This is the part of Design From Your Soul, where you overlay the qualities of the elements with the Bagua to help you live you passions.  Water is calming, thoughtful, meandering.  Wood is striving, upward, solid strength.  Fire is powerful, exciting, playful.  Earth is nurturing, grounding, comforting.  Metal is strong, exacting, correct.  (For examples of products which exemplify these characteristics visit our Catalog!)  Which of these qualities do you need to accentuate your passions?  Where can you place these elemental strengths in your home (or work) to do the best work within the Bagua?  For example, if you need more peace in your busy family life so you can be more creative in a new business venture - add earth elements (calming and nurturing) in the Family sector, a water element in Center (calmness affects all areas), and a wood element in the Creative area.  A touch of fire in the abundance section would be a good idea as well!

Have fun with this!  Perhaps you can now see why your house or work place "feels" a certain way - too "heavy" or too "chaotic" - because there is an excess of darkness or yin, or an excess of clutter or conflicting elements.  Remember, Feng Shui is about universal balance - the use of elements in a balanced and thoughtful manner - to create your best life.  And the caring staff at Design From Your Soul are willing and able to assist you on your path to live your passions and fulfill your life's purpose.
